World’s Longest Non-Stop Flight Takes Off from Sydney in 2027

Qantas is making aviation history with the launch of the world’s first direct flight from Sydney to London, set to take off in the first half of 2027. Dubbed Project Sunrise, the ultra-long-haul route will stretch 17,015 kilometres, clocking in at just over 20 hours of continuous flight time – a global record.
After years of planning, pandemic-related delays, and technical fine-tuning, Qantas is now preparing to roll out 12 customised Airbus A350-1000s. These aircraft will feature:

Capacity reduced to 238 passengers for added comfort.
Dedicated wellness zones with stretch areas and hydration stations.
Premium cabins with reclining beds, armchairs, 32” HD screens and even personal climate control in First Class.

And if that wasn’t enough sky-high innovation, the airline is also preparing to launch an 18-hour non-stop flight from Sydney to New York under the same project.

Two sunrises, one uninterrupted journey, and a new benchmark in long-haul travel – Project Sunrise is set to reshape the way we fly.
